The Storm that threw me off track

11/12/2020 the day after ETA

I was happy to get off work early yesterday. I could finally commit some time to both the new dlc for Destiny as well as work on some of the set up for my build week project.

Let me explain the complication that is build week. Since we no longer have project managers, and no one to really guide us, we basically get an assignment with vague requirements, and told best of luck. We are to divvy up the work between the members of the team and work on combining our separate pieces together. Unfortunately if members of the team do not meet up at the right time or respond to request in the slack channel, we are all set behind.

Last night I put together a list of ideas I had to get the project going, what pages we would need, what kind of components I could work with. But the meeting felt a little underwhelming, and to be honest Im not entirely sure what the rest of the group is working on. So, I set off with the ambition and optimism that we would make it work as we go along. I would set up the base for each of the repositories we would need to work off of. And just as I settled in to work with the registration form I committed to completing. ETA had other plans.

At around 8:30 last night the first power flicker hit. Luckily I had already pushed my repo information up the branch and saved. I took a breather and decided I would give the storm 10 more minutes to tell me if it was a time retire or keep trekking on. The wind was blowing, rain pounding in different directions. But the power was holding out. So I decided to give it another go, only for the power to die completely from there. As of 10:30 this morning I am still with out. Im hoping to get some of the work done while Im in the office but unfortunately Ive hit a snag. One of my dependance doesn't want to install correctly, and now Im waiting for the help channel for assistance. I hope to get back on track and be up to date with my schedule before class time tonight, but we will see.

I feel slightly overwhelmed. I don’t know if Im doing my part right. And part of me is starting to think I may need to flex. Flex is when you retake a unit over again. But at this point I have been in school for so long, I just want to start working in the field and be learning as I go. But I know thats not the best way for me to get the best paying job and start making those dreams a reality.

Alright Ive done enough complaining. Time to get some work done. Let’s see how this week ends.
